Mark of Excellence
The Mark of Excellence award recognizes leadership and innovation in the capture and use of data, creation of knowledge and development of technology and insight for agri-food businesses. It is awarded to recognize outstanding individuals and organizations that carry on the legacy of qualities in a founding member, Mark Warren.
Congratulations to Peony Farms in Alberta receiving AgSights' 2023 Mark of Excellence Award.
Peter and Emma farm with their son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Miriam, in Lacombe Alberta. The foundation of their success is solid record keeping on their entire herd, included genetic and donor animals to identify the animals that efficiently do their part in raising high quality beef. Records are sound thanks to the efforts of all involved, including Sharon Doornbos.
The evolution of the Piedmontese breed in collaboration with the North American Piedmontese Association is supported by genetic services that AgSights is proud to support. In particular, adjustments due to a breed-specific gene, Myostatin, helps sets their breed up to be recognized as efficiently producing higher yield and genetically tender beef.
Genetic services have continued to evolve with evaluations on feet and legs through the creation of structure EPDs specific for the Piedmontese breed.
