Adding Locations

Adding locations is part of setting up your account. All animals in inventory must be assigned a location. Locations can be used to track animals across different pens or farms, depending on the level of detail you require for your operation. The location structure is completely up to each individual user, however, at minimum you will need to create one location before adding or importing animals. Creating groups

Creating Groups and Adding Animals to Groups”] Groups are used to manage multiple animals at once. There are various types of groups from birth seasons, to weighing groups, to health treatment groups. You will need to create groups before you can perform some actions. For example, we need to create a birth season before we can add or import newborn animals. Click the link to download step-by-step instructions.

Adding Animals

Before we can use bioTrack Plus to record events, we first need to add the animals in our herd or flock to our inventory. This Tip Sheet walks you through adding a new animal. Be sure to check out the glossary of fields on the animal form, as this is a great reference for later when importing animals or performing other actions. Importing Animals

The import from CSV functionality allows you to import multiple animal, event and master data records with a few clicks. Importing animals is the quickest way to get started using your new bioTrack Plus account, or to transfer information from you existing on-farm hardware or software solutions. We strongly recommend you view the Tip Sheet on Adding Animals first before trying your first import, to help you understand the data fields required for import.
